Senior Accessibility Engineer
I currently serve as Senior Accessibility Engineer, Team Lead and Legal Lead here at Accessible360. I was born with congenital glaucoma, and have been a user of screen reading software for over ten years. I was trained in the use of screen reading software and other assistive technologies at Lions World Services for the Blind, after which I attended the University of Montana where I earned my B.S. in Management Information Systems. While attending the University of Montana, I began to work in the area of Electronic and Information Technology Accessibility, serving as a subject matter expert on the campus’ Task Force, as a student representative on the Americans with Disabilities Act committee, and working for the campus IT department as an Accessibility Specialist.
In February 2018 I joined Accessible360 as an Accessibility Engineer and Screen Reader Auditor, where my primary duties include auditing digital content to ensure conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, providing client support throughout the remediation process, and providing workshops and trainings for clients upon request. I was promoted to the role of Senior Accessibility Engineer & Team Lead in 2019, at which point my duties were expanded to include the day-to-day management of a team of auditors. I received my Web Accessibility Specialist certification from the International Association of Accessibility Professionals in March 2020. I have also spoken about various accessibility topics at regional, national, and international conferences such as the International Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference, Blackboard World, and the Northwest Managers of Educational Technology conferences.
