Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) is right around the corner (Thursday, May 20)! 2021 marks the 10th anniversary of GAAD, a day “to get everyone talking, thinking and learning about digital access and inclusion,” and the more than one billion people with disabilities around the world who are directly affected by digital accessibility. Here are a few things A360 is doing to celebrate GAAD this year:

  • Our Developer Advocate, Jason Webb, and Senior Accessibility Engineer/Legal Lead, Aaron Page, will be presenting at the virtual Open Source North Conference on May 20. Jason and Aaron will be speaking about how to create accessible web carousels.
  • Also on May 20, Jason Webb will be hosting free 30-minute 1:1 sessions throughout the day with web developers and designers to review code and/or design projects. Sign up here to request a session with Jason.
  • We’d like to announce our exciting new partnership with Olark, a live chat software company! We’re thrilled to be working together, and we’re grateful for Olark’s commitment to equitable access! We plan to incorporate an accessible live chat feature on our website soon.

Wondering how you can celebrate GAAD? Here are some ways you can spread awareness of digital accessibility and inclusion on GAAD. Also, here’s a list of GAAD 2021 events happening all over the world. You can even submit your own event!

Happy GAAD!
