Celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities December 3!

International Day of Persons with Disabilities, December 3

On December 3 (tomorrow), the United Nations will celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD). The IDPD is an annual celebration that was started in 1992, with the goal of promoting the rights and well-being of people with disabilities in all aspects of life. The IDPD also aims to increase disability awareness worldwide.

The IDPD theme in 2020 is “Building back better: towards an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post COVID-19 world by, for and with persons with disabilities.” Here are some ways you can celebrate IDPD, which include attending webinars, getting involved on social media, and more!

One webinar our team at Accessible360 is specifically looking forward to is “Disability inclusive response for COVID-19 through Open and Distance Learning.” Not only is this timely to IDPD, but as we think about the COVID pandemic holistically and how it has affected learning opportunities for people with disabilities in an online classroom environment.

Accessible360 encourages everyone to get involved with IDPD. Achieving full inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of life is a core part of our mission and vision.

So celebrate IDPD December 3 and help raise disability awareness!
